About Us

Liberty Specialist Institute near the Koforidua sports stadium was founded by Mr. Isaac Ametameh and Rev. Mrs. Edna Ametameh in January 1987. After increasing their professional background in hotels, both taught in vocational schools in Nigeria where Mrs. Ametameh also entered the Bible College to become a reverend minister in 1985. Following that they came home to Ghana to start their own school with two students: now it has grown into a school of over four hundred students. Rev. Mrs. Edna Ametameh travelled to India/Hydrabad where she did a course in Income Generating Activities for women in rural areas. Several times she went to the USA for courses in Christian Leaders' Principles, on the invitation of the Earl Paulk Int. Institute in Atlanta/Georgia. Another visit was organised by a group of Christian women in Chicago on a fund- raising mission. On her last trip to the USA she was asked by Global Women on a Mission, California, to speak at the "Black Expo" 2004 on the topic "Improving the Life of African Children".

She is a reverend minister of the Assemblies of God church here in Koforidua and is responsible for the Eastern Region women’s ministry. She was President of the Ghana Federation of Business and Professional Women (Koforidua) from 2000 – 2003. Rev. Mrs. Ametameh is also founder, and since its inception in 2000, President of the Liberty Educational Foundation. This Foundation organises entrepreneurial training, raises funds for needy students and helps graduands of Liberty with a job placement programme.

Mr Isaac Ametameh started his career as a cook and steward in Koforidua St. Joseph Hospital where he was in charge of cooking for the priests and monks. He then worked over the years for several renowned hotels in Ghana, interrupted by a stint with the Melic Shipping Company, where he was in charge of the crew, feeding, payments, purchasing and overall cleanliness of the ship. Since leaving the Novotel / Accra in 1993, he has been the Proprietor, Chef Instructor and Counsellor of Liberty Specialist Institute. He is an examiner for the Ghana Education Service Technical Education division with 20 years experience and since 2003, a member of the Ghana Chefs' Association.
